Reporting to the President and CEO of Sime Darby, Dr Simon Lord, Group Chief Sustainability Officer, helmed the position in April of 2015 with the shared vision for Sime Darby to become a leading multinational corporation delivering sustainable value to its stakeholders. Dr Simon overseas the sustainability agenda in five core businesses and guides teams to create value throughout its operations. Under his leadership, Sime Darby has grown to implement sustainable business strategies and drive systemic change through the integration and balance of economic, social and environmental considerations.
With over 30 years of experience in the sustainability and corporate responsibility realm, Dr Simon actively engages in global dialogue and debate in how business will need to operate to ensure a sustainable business. This includes participation in industry groups such as the RSPO, global forums such as the Innovation Forum and Global Child Forum which serve to take businesses forward on issues such as the Global Business Initiative on Human Rights.
Prior to this, Dr Simon was the Group Director for Sustainability in New Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL). He also held numerous positions in NBPOL which includes the Executive Director for New Britain Plantation Services (Singapore), Director of NBPOL Foundations, Head of Research and Head of Technical Services. Dr Simon is also currently a Director of Global Sustainability Associates and Trustee of Orang-tan Land Trust. He was formerly a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Natural Capital and Biodiversity.
